From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—used the foes for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires revenge.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
